This can cause an extremely large voltage spike, which will really test a surge protector. If you must leave your RV plugged in during the storm, it's best to unplug and wait until after everything has passed before plugging back in again. Even with an EMS system protecting our RVs from electrical surges like this one, we still need some protection against power-related damages that might be caused by these events as well -- so make sure at least you have a good surge protector!
